The Pattern
Discover the joy of creating something truly magical with the Tic Tac Toe Sweater – a reversible sweater using interlocking crochet techniques.
Using primarily the double crochet and chain space, you’ll watch in wonder as a clever arrangement of simple stitches creates a cozy, two-sided masterpiece.
This sweater is more than a project – it’s an experience full of rewarding surprises that will spark pride and excitement as you move from section to section and see your sweater come to life!
MEASUREMENTS
Bust circumference: (32, 35.25, 38.5, 41.5) (44.75, 48, 51.25, 54.5) (57.5, 60.75, 64, 67.25) inches or (81, 90, 98, 105) (114, 122, 130, 138) (146, 154, 163, 171) cm
The sizing for this pattern is based on the standard Craft Yarn Council (CYC) measurements.
This sweater is designed to be worn with -1.75 to +1.75 inches (-4.5 to +4.5 cm) of ease around the bust.
All my garment patterns are size-inclusive and are graded for actual bust circumferences of up to at least a 60 inches or 152 cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Any DK weight yarn you can meet gauge with in at least 2 highly contrasting colors. The sample is shown in Hobbii Happy Place Melange, DK weight #3 yarn (50% cotton, 50% wool, 273 yds / 250 m per 100 g ball) in color “Lollipop” as MC and “Almond” as CC.
Hooks: 4.0 mm (main gauge) hook, 3.75 mm (secondary gauge) hook, 3.5 mm (ribbing gauge) hook, or sizes needed to obtain gauge. I’m a tight crocheter, so you may have to go down in hook sizes

Shop the Tic Tac Toe Collection
The Tic Tac Toe collection is a series of interlocking crochet patterns for garments and accessories specifically designed to go perfectly together. These intermediate to advanced patterns feature a two-sided fabric that looks completely different on each side: on the “right side” you see star motifs and the main color is dominant, while on the “wrong side” you see squares and the contrast color is dominant.
A word from my testers
Have already used it out and about. It is comfortable and I love that the following day I can use it in reverse for a different look. I used a wool and cotton yarn combo and it has worked well, each side feels different as a result – e.g., reverse feels warmer with most of the wool inside.
This is such a beautiful pattern! I think it would have been harder for me if I hadn’t done one of your reversible patterns before. I am so excited to wear this and to enjoy it! Thanks for letting me be a part of this test!
I am fascinated by your patterns and by how your brain works to create them! It brings so much joy to see it come together and the fit is so perfect that it needs no adjustments. You provide sufficient support and are concrete and to the point.
Thank you for having me test this pattern for you. I really enjoyed the stitches as I hadn’t done something like this before. I would love to do more interlocking crochet in the future and can’t wait to see what else you come up with! The layout of your patterns is really easy to follow and the photos and instructions are clear and concise. I’m also loving that the sweater is reversible, and I will definitely be wearing it both ways!
