The Pattern

Dive into effortless colorwork and gorgeous texture with the Groovy Cowl!
This stylish accessory features a playful wave-like pattern achieved through a variation of the beloved moss stitch. Cleverly placed increases and decreases bring the flowing motif to life, perfect for showcasing two highly contrasting solid colors while only working with one color at a time. Whether you’re dressing up or staying cozy, this design is as fun to make as it is to wear. Ready to add a splash of groove to your crochet? Grab your hooks and yarn and start stitching!

MATERIALS

Yarn: Any fingering weight yarn you can meet gauge with. Animal fibers are great for a cozy cowl best suited for the cold season. For best results, use two highly contrasting solid or semi-solid colors. Avoid variegated yarns.

Shown in: Feisty Fibres Rockin Sox (80% SW merino, 20% nylon, 420 yds / 384 m per 115 g skein) in “Vibes” as MC and Scheepjes Unity, previously Our Tribe (70% SW merino, 30% polyamide, 495 yds / 420 m per 100 g ball) in “Theresa” as CC.

Hooks: 3.5 mm (main gauge) hk, 3.0 mm (ribbing) hk, or sizes needed to obtain gauge. I’m a tight crocheter, so you may have to go down in hook sizes.

Notions: Scissors, darning needle, stitch marker.

YARDAGE

The approximate yardages are:

Main color: 1 skein of Feisty Fibres Rockin Sox or 310 (335, 405) (450, 465) yds / 285 (305, 370) (410, 425) m

Contrast color: 1 ball of Scheepjes Our Tribe or 280 (305, 365) (405, 420) yds / 255 (280, 335) (370, 385) m

If your yarn or gauge is different, your yardage may vary.
