The Pattern

The Tessellation Pullover is one of those designs that instantly catches the eye: structured, geometric, and effortlessly wearable. Worked seamlessly from the top down, this circular yoke sweater features increases that blend invisibly into the pattern, keeping the tiled motif perfectly consistent throughout.

The result is a fabric that looks intricate but feels surprisingly approachable to make. With its relaxed, boxy fit and subtle bishop sleeves, it’s a sweater you’ll reach for again and again. The design is polished enough to dress up, but cozy enough to live in.

The reversible stitch pattern offers two distinct moods: one side with gemstone-like tiles and the other with a clean, brick-style lattice. Ribbed edges along the collar, cuffs, and hem bring the whole look together.

Whether you style it with jeans or layer it over a skirt, it’s a standout piece—and if you love the texture, don’t miss the matching Tessellation Beanie!

Jana (JanaAriadne on Ravelry)

Size 1, using 978 yds of Drops Merino Extra Fine in color 02 as MC, and 655 yds of Decida Merino DK in Omeo as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm
Mods: I made the body 4 rounds longer, which added about 1 inch to the length. And I used the same-size hook (3.5 mm) throughout, as a smaller hook kept splitting and tangling my MC yarn. To compensate, I maintained tighter tension on the short rows and ribbings.

Maru (malonsooo on Ravelry)

Size 2, using 631 yds of Boutique De Hilados Paulina Sedificada 3/5 as MC, and 598 yds of Yanabey AcrãLico Sedificado as CC
Hook size(s): 2.5 mm; 3 mm; 3.5 mm
Mods: None.

Tania (tbthandmade on Instagram)

Size 3, using 1111 yds of Durable Comfy in Phantom as MC, and 791 yds of Durable Comfy in Emerald as CC
Hook size(s): 3 mm; 3.5 mm; 4 mm
Mods: None.

Bee (BeesBusyFingers on Ravelry)

Size 6, using 1674 yds of Birdstreet Yarn Merino DK as MC, and 1372 yds of Adventures in Yarncraft Merino Sport as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm; 4 mm; 4.5 mm
Mods: I did a full-length body (approx. doubled the length of the body section so that it comfortably reaches my hips). Very easy to modify the length since it’s a straightforward repeat!

Laura (one_pinksunshine on Instagram)

Size 1, using 920 yds of Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine 170 as MC, and 570 yds of Simy’s Studio Truth Hand-Dyed as CC
Hook size(s): 4 mm
Mods: Since a child’s body is different to a grown woman’s body, I made some small adjustments. I made the body longer, the sleeves shorter and the neckline tighter. I completed 58 body rows, 72 arm rows and alternated two and three slipstitches along the neckline when doing the ribbed collar. I also made the collar ribbing the same width as the bottom ribbing and arm ribbing.

Emily (Lemi189200 on Ravelry)

Size 6, using 1590 yds of Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze DK in Limestone as MC, and 1173 yds of Yarnsmiths Pebble Haze DK in Titanite as CC
Hook size(s): 3 mm; 3.5 mm; 4 mm
Mods: I shortened the sleeve rounds to 18 sets of rounds 1-4 instead of the 21 rounds suggested. No other changes made.

Kathryn (Kedowning on Ravelry)

Size 4, using 1180 yds of Malibrigo Rios in Leo as MC, and 933 yds of Malibrigo Rios in Fucsia as CC
Hook size(s): 2.5 mm; 3 mm
Mods: I decreased the sleeve length, so instead of doing 20 repeats, I did 17. I lengthened the body by an additional 2 repeats to get it to hit a similar place on my body as the pattern photos.

Lauren (Lperry274 on Ravelry)

Size 3, using 1122 yds of Hobbii Black Friday Acrylic as MC, and 911 yds of Hobbii Sunbird Iridescent Forester as CC
Hook size(s): 3 mm; 3.5 mm; 4 mm
Mods: I made the sleeves a bit shorter than written so they hit my wrist the way I like. I only skipped two pattern repeats for about a 2-inch shorter sleeve. I have learned that my arms are shorter than I thought haha!

Judiii (Made by Judiii on Ravelry)

Size 1, using 830 yds of locally sourced milk cotton yarn as MC, and 580 yds of locally sourced milk cotton yarn as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm; 4 mm
Mods: I made my sleeves a little shorter as I have shorter arms.

Meike (Meike23 on Ravelry)

Size 2, using 930 yds of Drops Nord as MC, and 744 yds of Drops Nord as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm
Mods: I added 11 rounds to the body and made the sleeves 4 rounds shorter.

Rachel (Mrsmikeyc on Ravelry)

Size 4, using 1320 yds of Milano Super Value Double Knitting as MC, and 820 yds of Sunflower Vibe DK as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm; 4 mm; 3.25 mm
Mods: I accidentally made the first sleeve with an extra 8 sts, so copied this for the second sleeve picking up extra stitches in the corners and evenly around. I reduced to the stated number of stitches evenly for the cuffs.

Dee (shinkeidee_yarncreations on Instagram)

Size 4, using 1080 yds of locally sourced yarn as MC, and 720 yds of locally sourced yarn as CC
Hook size(s): 3 mm; 3.5 mm
Mods: I made the sleeves shorter since the weather here is mostly hot.

Luna (StarTouchedScheme on Ravelry)

Hook size(s): 3 mm; 3.5 mm; 4 mm

Mods: None.

Ruqayyah (Crochetbyruqayyah on Ravelry)

Size 4, using 1171 yds of Hobbii Daily Stitch Acrylic as MC, and 1043 yds of Hobbii Hurricane as CC
Hook size(s): 2.5 mm; 3 mm; 3.5 mm
Mods: I needed to decrease 4 rounds on the sleeve to achieve a regular sleeve length.

Johanna (HookYarnTinker on Ravelry)

Size 3, using 1100 yds of Crocheted by Carisse 12-ply Fine Cotton Gradient as MC, and 900 yds of Crocheted by Carisse 12-ply Fine Cotton Yarn Mix as CC
Hook size(s): 3.5 mm; 4 mm
