The Pattern
Stay stylish and cozy with the Kaleidoscope Fingerless Mittens!
Featuring a reversible design that completely transforms when turned inside-out, these fingerless mittens showcase the beauty of the interlocking crochet technique.
An easy-to-memorize 2-round repeat creates seamless colorwork using just one color at a time. Perfect for adding versatility and flair to your winter wardrobe!
The Kaleidoscope Fingerless Mittens are worked seamlessly in the round from the bottom up, entirely on the right side. You start with the cuff worked as a tube, then add two darts to increase the circumference in the gusset section before you split the work into two sections: one for the thumb and one for the rest of the fingers. The mitten is finished off with a set of decorative SC in BLO rounds around the cuff, knuckles, and thumb.
This pattern was originally published as part of Hobbii’s 2025 Crochet Advent, A Winter’s Tale. It is now available in my usual pattern layout through my webshop or Ravelry. The pattern is also available as a Hobbii Plus pattern, formatted in Hobbii’s pattern template, and it’s available in a bunch of languages including German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch.

Fiber
For mittens that truly work across seasons, a blend of wool and a plant-based or synthetic fiber strikes the ideal balance: warm enough for winter but not so heavy that they become uncomfortable on a brisk autumn morning or a cool spring afternoon.
Pure wool is equally wonderful if warmth is your priority, as its natural elasticity will keep the mittens fitting snugly without losing their shape over time.
Whatever you choose, this pattern shines with high contrast between the two colors, so the geometric interlocking motif reads clearly and boldly, though a tonal pairing can give a quieter, more sophisticated result if that suits your style!
