The Pattern
The Primaveral Cowl is here to bring a touch of springtime elegance to your wardrobe! Delicate and airy, this lightweight accessory captures the feeling of the season: fresh, effortless, and full of charm.
This quick-to-make pattern features a simple 4-round repeat, combining chain spaces, single crochets, and double crochets to create an intricate lace design that looks far more complex to than it is to crochet. The open stitch structure gives the cowl a beautiful drape, making it just as lovely sitting loosely around the neck as it is pulled up to frame the face for a more cozy, layered look.
Whether you’re dressing up a casual outfit or adding a finishing touch to something more polished, this little accessory has a way of pulling everything together with ease.
The Primaveral Cowl is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down, entirely on the right side. The starting stitch count determines the circumference of the cowl, while the number of rounds determine its length.
This pattern was originally published as part of Hobbii’s 2025 Crochet Advent, A Winter’s Tale. It is now available in my usual pattern layout through my webshop or Ravelry. The pattern is also available as a Hobbii Plus pattern, formatted in Hobbii’s pattern template, and it’s available in a bunch of languages including German, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, and Dutch.

Measurements
The finished measurements are taken with the cowl laid flat, after blocking.
Width: 13 inches or 33 cm
Length: 11.75 inches or 30 cm
Materials
Yarn
Worsted weight.
Fiber
For a cowl that truly captures the feeling of spring, reach for a lightweight plant-based fiber such as viscose, cotton, linen, or bamboo.
These fibers offer the breathability and drape that make the lace design shine, while keeping the accessory comfortable on those mild transitional days.
Viscose in particular, but also bamboo or a bamboo-blend yarn will give the finished piece a beautiful sheen that pairs wonderfully with the delicate lace pattern.
Notions
Scissors, yarn needle, tape measure, blocking mat and pins.
Hooks
US H-8/5.0 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge. I’m a tight crocheter, so you may have to go down in hook size.
Yardage
2 balls or approximately 211 yds/193 m.
Shown in
Hobbii Pearly Haze (73% Viscose, 27% Wool; 120 yds/110 m per 1.75 oz/50 g ball) in Aster (69) for the purple sample and Americano (20) for the brown sample.
