The Pattern

The Tic Tac Toe Headband is the perfect project to make you fall in love with interlocking crochet!
Whether this is your first time trying out the technique, or you already have some experience with it, this pattern is sure to get you hooked.
Using primarily the double crochet and chain space, you’ll watch in wonder as a clever arrangement of simple stitches creates a cozy, two-sided masterpiece.
Quick to make and endlessly adorable, you’ll feel the joy of crocheting something as fun to wear as it is to create!

MATERIALS

Yarn: Any DK weight yarn you can meet gauge with in at least 2 highly contrasting colors. The sample is shown in Hobbii Happy Place Melange, DK weight #3 yarn (50% cotton, 50% wool, 273 yds / 250 m per 100 g ball) in color “Lollipop” as MC and “Almond” as CC.
Hooks: 4.0 mm (main gauge) hook, 3.75 mm (secondary gauge) hook, or sizes needed to obtain gauge. I’m a tight crocheter, so you may have to go down in hook sizes
Notions: Tape measure, scissors, darning needle, 2 stitch markers

Shop the Tic Tac Toe Collection

The Tic Tac Toe collection is a series of interlocking crochet patterns for garments and accessories specifically designed to go perfectly together. These intermediate to advanced patterns feature a two-sided fabric that looks completely different on each side: on the “right side” you see star motifs and the main color is dominant, while on the “wrong side” you see squares and the contrast color is dominant.

A word from my testers

This pattern was easy to follow and quick to work up. It’s the perfect project to start and finish while on a road trip! I love that it is double-sided and that it looks more complex than it actually is. It does require paying close attention to which side the yarn needs to be dropped at the end of each round, otherwise there will be a ton of frogging to be had :’)

This pattern was fun to make. The pattern was well written and easy to follow. The pictures you have included add additional help for anyone who is not familiar with the stitches needed to complete the pattern. I am already thinking of other yarns in my stash that I can use to make a few more for myself and my family for presents! Looking forward to the colder weather so that I can wear this headband for more then just a few minutes.

Easy peasy lil headband that works up extremely fast!! You could knock out one each for the whole family in no time! Being reversible is definitely a bonus for this one!!

Claudia (LilMissC on Ravelry)

The pattern was very clear, I had to look at it often but that’s because I’m not used to interlocking crochet. Once I had done it once it was a breeze!
