The Pattern

The Tote-ally Tiled Tote is a chic and practical accessory bursting with color that is just perfect for summer! Constructed from 13 squares or “tiles”, it comes with a set of sturdy faux i-cord handles that are embedded directly into the bag. This gives it a touch of refinement while providing reinforcement and stability, preventing overstretching. But the real fun begins right from the planning phase, when you start experimenting with colors and motifs! This pattern is the perfect opportunity to get creative and mix and match square motifs from the book. Try out bold, contrasting colors for a vibrant, modern look, or go for softer, complementary shades for a more subtle, harmonious design. The possibilities are endless!

Fiber

A sturdy, smooth cotton yarn is the ideal choice for a tote bag that needs to look good and hold up to regular use. Cotton’s natural durability and low stretch make it well suited to a structured accessory like this one, where the bag needs to maintain its shape even when filled. A cotton-linen blend is another excellent option, bringing added strength and a pleasantly textured finish that only improves with wear.

Whatever fiber you choose, avoid anything too stretchy or loosely spun, as the bag will benefit from a yarn that holds its structure. With so many colors in play, stitch definition matters too. A smooth yarn will keep the tile motifs looking sharp and the color transitions clean, letting your chosen palette do all the talking.
