The Pattern

The Steppingstone Beanie is an interlocking crochet pattern featuring an easy-to-memorize pattern repeat and a straightforward tubular construction.

The aim is to introduce you to the interlocking crochet technique while you also create a beautiful accessory you’ll love wearing.

This pattern can quite literally be your steppingstone into this amazing technique!

The sample is shown in size 6 using The Frosted Stitch Winter Worsted (100% SW merino, 218 yds / 200 m per 100 g skein) in “Snow” as MC and “Moss Campion” as CC.

MEASUREMENTS

Ribbed band circumference: 16 (17, 18, 19) (20, 21, 22) inches or 41 (43, 46, 48) (51, 53, 56) cm

Beanie circumference (main pattern): 22 (22.75, 24.5, 25.25) (26, 27, 27.75) inches or 56 (58, 62, 64) (66, 69, 70) cm

DIFFICULTY

Intermediate

MATERIALS

Yarn: Any worsted or DK weight yarn you can meet gauge with in at least 2 highly contrasting colors

Hooks: 5.0 mm (main gauge) hk, 4.0 mm (detailing) hk, 3.5 mm (ribbing) hk, or sizes needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Scissors, darning needle, stitch marker

Main color: 1 (1, 1, 2) (2, 2, 2) skein(s) of The Frosted Stitch Winter Worsted or 190 (200, 215, 245) (255, 290, 295) yds / 175 (185, 195, 225) (235, 265, 270) m

Contrast color: 1 skein of The Frosted Stitch Winter Worsted or 110 (115, 125, 150) (155, 175, 180) yds / 100 (105, 115, 135) (140, 160, 165) m
