The Virgo Vest

When I first laid eyes on Christa’s new Grunge colorway collection, I knew that her “Docs” and “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” are the perfect Virgo colors! I had my mind on this reversible stitch pattern ever since the Scorpio Raglan proved to be so popular – but I wanted to come up with a construction which wouldn’t require as much concentration as the Scorpio does with all those raglan increases. Enter: the Virgo Vest!

With its simple, yet clever construction, this vest pattern is made up of two main panels with square neck shaping, which are connected at the sides via what I call an “underarm panel”. This underarm panel features a simple, yet very pretty and particularly flexible stitch pattern with curved underarm shaping. This facilitates an easy crocheting process as there is no complicated shaping going on in the main panels (with the reversible stitch), yet you end up with a well-fitting and easily customizable garment as the pattern walks you through every step along the way! With my detailed written instructions and tutorial photos provided for key moments, this vest will be a breeze to work up!

The Virgo Vest is also the perfect crochet pattern for both the warm and cold season – wear it as a vest layered on top of a shirt in the winter, or wear it directly on your skin in the summertime! Check out the work of my testers in the lookbook below. Some of them are wearing it as a vest, others as a tank top, but one thing’s clear: they’re all beautiful both inside and out!

The pattern

Like most CrochetHighway patterns, the Virgo Vest comes with step-by-step instructions and tutorial photos, including on how to check for gauge. The instructions, tutorial photos, and schematics walk you through every step along the way with no guesswork left for you.

The pattern calls for DK weight yarn (category 3) in at least 1 main color (MC), and 1 contrast color (CC). My testers used a variety of yarns and color combinations to show off this design – check out the tester photo gallery below to find all the details on yarns and yardages from my testers!

A word from my testers

Dani @dani.made.it-2

I am SO IMPRESSED by the finishing techniques for the edgings! I was concerned about how boxy it was looking when I finished the front and back panel, but it looked so nice at the end. This was definitely one of the best pattern testing experiences I’ve had!

It’s easy, straightforward and highly recommended for an interlocking crochet first timer. The whole 4 rows repeat is quick to remember and easy to follow. I just can’t stress enough of how much I love your whole Zodiac collection, Ana-Maria! Good job!!!
