Cosmopolitan Cowl

A textured neckwarmer to whip up in a day.

The inspo

The Cosmopolitan Cowl is your perfect accessory for fall and spring. Choose the snug and practical fit, or go full glam and make yourself the oversized version! And in classic Cosmopolitan tradition, the pattern comes written for kids too!

The pattern

Make your own easy crochet cowl with this detailed pattern! The printable PDF pattern includes 15 pages of instructions and tips & tricks to make this cowl your perfect accessory.

Sizes & yardages

Sizes are written as follows: (1, 2, 3) and correspond to child, adult – snug fit, adult – oversized fit. The cowl sizing is based on the head circumference.

For sizes 1 and 2, the cowl is worked with ca. 10cm (4″) of negative ease, so the circumference of the cowl should be smaller than the actual head measurement, but it should be large enough so that the cowl fits over the head. Size 3 is an oversized design and the actual head circumference shouldn’t make any difference.

Texture, texture, texture!

The design

The repetitive stitch pattern is relaxing and therapeutic, and you’ll be amazed by how easily you can create such a highly textured fabric. The hook size and yarn weight combination ensures that this project will not stay in your WIP stash for too long! The horizontal “ribbings” within the pattern allow the cowl to fold naturally when worn, creating a unique, asymmetric and eye-catching design.
